I remember Mannera he showed up once as a DO and he was a jerk. WE took him and the Co out to lunch and he was so rude to the young man who was our waiter. I thought he's so use to treating young men badly and having them cower. It was awful what a terrible guy.

What is behind your choice of forum user name?
by stuckinarut2 injust curious how we all think.. what prompted or influenced your choice of username for this forum?.
there are some really amazing names, and it would be great to hear the stories behind them.... mine was nothing fancy.
i just felt "stuck in a rut too" along with so many others.

What "Rules" Did The Elders In Your KH Make?
by minimus insome congregations were known as liberal and others were considered very conservative.
back in the 1970s a nearby congregation made all speakers who gave public talks a white shirt to wear.
if a speaker came in wearing anything but white they were brought into the library and were given a white shirt!

I remember a circuit overseer giving a talk about how terrible and wrong it would be to see the movie titanic and it was funny because half the congregation had seen it. Another CO had a thing about star wars and again he was too late with his crazy counsel.

Mom was a bag lady, and her son . . .
by compound complex inis a bag man.. i take bags with me everywhere: paper and canvas shopping bags, designer sacs, wine-tote bags, and so forth.
there is so much to transport, drop off, and new stuff to bring to my digs.
an assortment awaits me in the foyer as i head out to do some long-postponed and needed acquisition.

into the store she ran carrying her bag
grabbing a head of lettuce carrying her bag
picking thru jalapenos carrying her bag
staring at all the spices carrying her bag
reaching for salad dressing carrying her bag
glancing at chocolate candy carrying her bag
checking out all her coupons carrying her bag
bicycling thru all the traffic carrying her bag
finally she's in her kitchen and her clock says it is seven

Watchtower's Future
by Tahoe inhttps://ny.curbed.com/2017/5/31/15717670/jehovahs-witnesses-watchtower-buildings-renderings-panorama.
the development team that purchased jehovah’s witnesses watchtower building complex in brooklyn heights last year has now unveiled plans for its transformation into a swanky office and retail destination.. .
panaroma, as this new space will be known, will be spread out over the five buildings here that were previously occupied by the jehovah’s witnesses.

I think about all those witnesses who worked hard on those buildings for the big J only to have them sold to the highest bidder. That's the way it goes and those developers got a good deal. Great location good condition.

I appreciate "our" free speech.
by The Rebel ini had given serious consideration too leaving the board.
i rationalised my views on " muslims" we're not held by the majority so i should leave.
but this would have been wrong thinking, instead i should appreciate the platform i was given to debate with free speech.

Free Speech YES
I love it when people get spiced up and say whatever they please after all those JW years of manicured conversation it feels good.
I've learned something important since I left and that is how easy it is to be manipulated by your own desires so now I'm more careful and I ask myself what do I really know about a subject and do I have the facts. You can find credentialed people lined up on either side of an issue and you have to do the work and think before you take a stand. I was a fool when I became a witness because I had an inner desire for a utopia for all humankind but now I realize the logistics of that desire and the free speech problem that arises with that kind of a dream.

HA the good life --Cart witnessing
by wannaexit inon my way home from work today, i saw the modern day pioneers having a grand old time, relaxing in the sun.
two sprawled on one bench and the other two talking up a storm, with their iced cappuccino, just enjoying the day.
the two carts were a number of feet away.

Don't they realize that god is saying "don't make me throw more people on the tarmac" . They sit in the sun sipping on their drinks and how many will god have to kill while they sit and enjoy the day.
